When you take the dial as a whole, though, you can see that things are placed in a way that makes it look and feel about as balanced as it could be. Obviously, the movement dictates some of where things need to be placed, and ultimately, I think Cartier http://www.syrauto.com/best-cartier-santos-100-extra-large-w20131y1-fake-watch-2x4f.html gave us something that's just a little bit different than the norm, to good effect.

Though the dial itself is matte, there are plenty of polished surfaces within the dial to catch the light (the handset, rings around the chrono registers, indices, etc). This same motif carries over onto the finish of the stainless steel case. While it's predominantly polished, there is a brushed finish ring near the top of the case. I like this, as it helps tone things down, and helps you keep from blinding yourself when you check the time when you're out in the sunlight (the domed and cartier W69013Z2 replica sapphire crystal helps in that regard as well).

The lugs on the case are longer, and have a nice bit of curve to them, helping to keep the cartier W20098D6 replica set closer on your wrist. Cartier also has included a curve in the strap (and, one assumes, the spring bars), which keeps the gap between the case and strap nice and even. The strap itself is decent, a brown leather embossed with a croc pattern; it does exhibit some creakiness in between the lugs. Closing off the strap we have a signed deployant clasp.

All told, this was one of my favorites of the several Cartier models that were sent over for review. This was largely due to the mix of color and styling, which I felt went for a sort of retro-modern feel. While the Cartier Ballon Bleu might feel out of place in a more casual setting, I think it works well for the office, or even if you happen to throw on a jacket headed out to dinner. It's when you get to the asking price (see note below) that you hit the biggest stumbling block for me with the Cartier Ballon Bleu. While I like the overall styling, the price just feels high to me, even for a W20131Y1 replica complication added to the quartz movement. That aside, the Cartier Ballon Bleu has a lot going for it, including a clean and compact layout.

It is important to note that the Santos 100 movement in the Ballon Bleu of watches is slightly different than the movement in the larger Santos 100 watches (collection). That is because in order to reduce the size of the movement for these more classic timepieces Cartier needed to use smaller batteries. To maintain the same three year battery life Cartier slowed down the frequency of the watch so that is uses a bit less power. So what does all this mean? Basically in order to have a watch that is not so large, Cartier decided to offer a bit less accuracy. Having said that, these are still much more accurate than "traditional" quartz movements. So while the larger Santos 100 movements are "way" more accurate than most quartz movements, the Ballon Bleu Santos 100 movements are "much" more accurate.

How accurate? Well the original Santos 100 was accurate to about 5-10 seconds per year. The Ballon Bleu Santos 100 is I believe accurate to about 5 or so second per month operating at a frequency of 262,144 Hz. Having said that, you really don't hear people complain about the accuracy of traditional quartz watches. Though what people do complain about is the tick, tick, ticking seconds hand of a quartz watch.
